Passion – A Fruit That Endures

So here we are all coming down from the highs of our best ever user community meeting to-date. Our largest, most well attended event with plenty of customer reference stories and copious opportunities to engage.

I was given a (privileged) opportunity to blog from the event, and although I found the 30 seconds or so needed to tweet, taking the time out to stop and consider something of value and interest to blog about was more challenging than I thought. Less so because of the material, it was after all two days packed to the brim with information and content, but more so because my own diary was full for, on average, 17 hours each day. I decided that this presents another all too common and very interesting problem regarding making sufficient time to blog and I intend to post my next blog on this very subject.

So, dear reader, this is a long intro to say that with all the wonderful possibilities I could discuss such as the fantastic project leadership of the Questar Gas team to implement on time, on budget and in scope, or the amazing interest in ‘Managed Business Objects’ integration between ClickMobile and Sybase SUP, or a plethora of others. I decided to talk about something that repeated many times over the short duration of the event. Our customers!

We are blessed by having staff who whole-heartedly believe in our vision, our technology and our people. This transforms itself as passion. More than any other company I have worked for, ClickSoftware evokes passion from all who touch it. Our customers and partners comment on it and our prospects can feel the genuine excitement and interest from our employees as they communicate on behalf of our company. I was fortunate enough to have several customers come to me with quotes such as “This stuff is really exciting, we really love it and it’s going to be part of our business for a long time”, and “It took us a while to get it but now we see and we love everything we touch. You guys really love what you do and it shows; it’s so important”.

With customers like these, who needs collateral 😉

In summary, I am suggesting that passion is indeed a sweet fruit and by living in a culture that promotes it, with a solution that demands it and customer results that create it, it’s easy to see why we have the most passionate, interested, and engaged WorkForce Management/Mobility customers of any of our peers (and theirs) worldwide. Thank You! For passion is something that comes from within and can only be given freely.

    Passion and enthusiasm are indeed two of the most powerful forces on earth. It is delightful to hear they were fully evident in staff and customers at ClickConnect. 
     
    I believe the other powerful trait that characterizes Click is determination. Developing and implementing successful and profitable schedule optimization systems is an extraordinarily tough challenge. An indication of how tough is the high concentration of vendors in the lower left Gartner quadrangle and how many vendors simply gave up completely. 
     
    In the seven years I’ve studied Click as an investor, the leadership team and staff has never wavered in their commitment to deliver the best schedule optimization solutions on the planet. Feature by feature. Customer by customer. Implementation by implementation. 
     
    Their remarkable perseverance has separated them from the pack. It reminds me of McDonald’s founder Ray Croc’s favorite quote: 
     
    "Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common that unsuccessful individuals with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent." 
     
    It will be fun to see where the combination of passion, enthusiasm and determination can take Click and its customers over the next five years.
